The following updates are now live:

  • The abandon option for missions and quests where it is allowed should be working correctly now.

  • I have fixed several other bugs though most were minor or display bugs.

  • A new option has been added to the Settings page that allows you to disable the slide up/down animation effect on alert messages. This was added by request. I will likely add more animation disable options in the near future.

The following game updates are now live:
  • Factions have been renamed back to Genres to better fit future development plans.

  • A new recruitment reward system based on Notcraft Tokens has been added to the game.

  • Every time you earn 100 tokens, you will be able to claim a rare item prize. You can only claim one prize per day and will not accrue more than 100 tokens at any time.

  • You earn tokens each day you or your recruits are active in Notcraft, but you will not earn tokens for recruits on the same network as yourself.

  • You can view your token status by looking at the Notcraft Tokens progress bar below your avatar in your side profile area.

  • For more information on the new token system, read the FAQ or click on the progress bar titled Notcraft Tokens.

The following updates are now live:

  • Just a reminder that all artwork you see will be replaced in the near future, so please be patient!

  • A new expanded Mission System has been added to the game engine that will offer a lot of new quests to players.

  • New missions will be offered to you every 20-30 minutes and will appear in the area where the Free Loot button appears.

  • Players can now abandon missions and quests though some exceptions will remain such as the tutorial quests which cannot be abandoned.

  • Only a small number of generic repeatable missions are in the game at this time so that I can monitor the system for bugs.

  • A lot more quests and missions will be added to the game in the future that will be more difficult and offer greater rewards.

  • Players can have up to 3 active missions. If you would like support for more missions, you can purchase an upgrade in the Upgrade Shop.

  • A new option has been added to the Settings page that will allow you to disable New Mission offers.

  • Numerous tweaks and adjustments have been made to the layout to improve visual quality and game playability.

  • The Platinum Shop is now online! You can purchase platinum which will give you access to various upgrades throughout Notcraft.

  • When you purchase platinum from the Platinum Shop, you receive a Platinum Pack which is placed into your vault. As long as you purchased the Platinum Pack yourself and it remains unclaimed in your vault, you can sell it in the market. Platinum Packs purchased in the market are automatically claimed so only the original Platinum Shop buyers can sell Platinum Packs in the market.

  • All previous settings had to be wiped due to a change in how settings are set and stored.

February 26, 2012 - Game Update Tomorrow Morning!
 by Zeras  /  0 comments
During final testing, I found a few small bugs which have since been corrected and I found a better way to handle a couple of areas of the update. I am finished with the game update and have tested it as much as possible so it is ready to go live. However, I am going to wait until in the morning to put it online so that I can monitor the update after it goes live to make sure there are no issues with it. While this update is mainly centered around the new mission/quest system, it is a massive update to the game engine so it will definitely need to be monitored.

I bring good news! I have finished most of the development of the new quest system. I need to test it thoroughly and also create more quests, but either later tonight or tomorrow, Notcraft will have quests!!

February 21, 2012 - Update Status

I have been and continue working on the quest system in Notcraft. I am making several internal changes that should make adding new quests much easier than it is currently. Once I am done, the quest system will become a bigger part of the game.

February 16, 2012 - Game Update
 by Zeras  /  0 comments
Although the game update notes have been limited lately, there have been several game updates the last few days to fix bugs and improve performance along other small changes not worthy of game update notes.

Today's update includes:

  • I made a few changes to the home page for visitors.

  • I added a screenshots page for visitors.

  • I redesigned the FAQ page and added more questions and answers to it. The FAQ page is a priority and I will continue adding questions to the page over time.

As you can tell, I have started the promotional phase of Notcraft. This will go on for an extended period of time and hopefully lead to a lot of new players joining as development continues.

Most of the work for the promotional phase will be complete within a couple of days and I will begin work on phase #2 of Notcraft's development. I plan to be open about my plans for Notcraft so I will keep everyone updated on what I am working on once I start each part of each phase.

I have huge plans for Notcraft that go well beyond what you see today, so be patient, post your comments and suggestions in the forums and, most of all, be excited! Good things lie ahead!

February 8, 2012 - Status Update
 by Zeras  /  0 comments
I am currently working on the preparation for promoting Notcraft. I have purposely avoided promoting Notcraft so far because I wanted to make sure the game was stable and also listen to player feedback in case changes were necessary.

Now that it has reached that point, I plan to start promoting the game through various methods. Once this promotion starts, you should start to see a lot more players and activity.

I should be done with the preparation work soon and I will begin work on the next phase of development I have planned for Notcraft.

I highly recommend you continue taking advantage of the little competition to gain a head start because that should change very soon!

February 2, 2012 - Game Update: Officially Launch
 by Zeras  /  0 comments
I am pleased to announce that Notcraft has official launched!!

The following updates are now live:

  • As mentioned during both the signup process and throughout the testing phase, most of the player data has been reset.

  • As thank you to the great group of testers, I decided not to reset the gold everyone earned during testing. I am considering other thank you rewards as well that will be based on the level of participation by each tester prior to the launch.

  • The item database has been completely rebuilt. Items have been added and removed and the stats on every item has changed from the test phase.

  • New, though still temporary, artwork has been added to all item card images in the game. I plan to replace all of the artwork in the near future.

  • The Action item system has been converted to an expendable resource system. As such, action items no longer take up Kingdom slots.

  • Action item resources are more common now and will accrue as expendable resources that can be used when battling other players.

  • When you battle, you will have the option to choose up to two action resources to use in the battle. Once used, they will be deducted from your action item resource pool.

  • All specific action items have been replaced with general actions. Instead of killing a specific type of hero, it will instead remove a random hero of any type.

  • All quests have been reset for players and the tutorial quests are now completed in sequence rather than all at the same time.

  • Genres have been renamed to Factions. While there is currently only one faction option available, I plan to add at least two more within the next 30 days.

  • Reputation you gain while aligned with a faction now counts as faction points toward that faction. You will notice that there is a faction progression bar in the side panel. The bar shows how loyal and proven you are to your faction. At this moment, there are no benefits to your faction standing, but I have several planned in the near future.

  • In the future, once more faction options are added, if you change faction, your reputation will be reset to 0.

  • The Upgrade Shop has been rewritten. All upgrades that previously had time period options have been replaced with a standard 30 day time period. I plan to add more options to the Upgrade Shop in the near future.

  • In a couple of days once this game update has been stabilised, the Platinum Shop will launch. You will be able to purchase Platinum Packs from the shop that you can use in the Upgrade Shop. In addition, you can resell Platinum Packs in the player market as long as they do not bind/claim them to your account.

  • The skill trees in the Skill Trainer have been completely restructured and the top level "Kingdom" skill has been removed so you no longer have to waste skill points in it.

  • With the removal of action items from the Kingdom page, the number of slots for kingdoms has been moved back to 12 as it was originally.

  • If you have any open quests, your Notcraft home page will now be your Quest Journal rather than your profile page. You can still access your profile page by clicking on your avatar throughout the game or by searching for your name on the Member Search page.

  • A new rarity type of Uncommon has been added to the game to make the transition a little smoother from Common to Rare items.

There may be a few more update notes that will be added to this or a future game update thread.
